The five groups are:

Hope Flowers School
Neve Shalom Wahat al-Salam
NISPED
The Arava Institute
Sheikh Jarrah Solidarity

See brief descriptions of each group to the right.

J Street is a national organization of American Jews and others working for a two-state solution in Israel Palestine. David Sokal, owner of Olive Branch Enterprises, the maker of Peace Oil, is active in J Street Seattle.

Hope Flowers School

Hope Flowers School: Located in Bethlehem in the West Bank, this small school is helping Palestinian children overcome the violence and other difficulties resulting from occupation, dislocation and poverty. Founded in 1984, now arguably a world leader in its field, Hope Flowers' accumulated experience helps de-escalate violence, polarization and extremism. The school promotes quality education, self-improvement, intercommunal and intercultural understanding.

Neve Shalom Wahat al-Salam: The Hebrew/Arabic name of this village in Israel translates to Oasis of Peace. It began in the 1970s and today has 60 families, half Jewish, half Palestinian. Another 300 families are on the waiting list to join. Not only do they provide a living example of a society based on equality, they also run a bilingual Arabic-Hebrew school and provide activities for the surrounding community teaching tolerance and understanding between cultures.

NISPED

NISPED, Negev Institute for Strategies of Peace and Development: NISPED has three divisions. AJEEC, Arab-Jewish Center for Equality, Emplowerment and Cooperation focuses on Arab citizens of Israel, in particular the Bedouin in the Negev. NISPED Middle East focuses on conflict resolution, economic empowerment and education for peace in the Middle East. NISPED International focuses on sustainable human development, economic empowerment and the development of cooperatives.

Arava

Arava Institute: The Arava Institute is the premier environmental studies program in the Middle East, preparing future Arab and Jewish leaders to cooperatively solve the region's environmental challenges. Together, faculty and students are advancing a critical common cause -- a sustainable future for the region’s human and natural resources.

Sheikh Jarrah

Sheikh Jarrah Solidarity: The struggle in Sheikh Jarrah is a political one in which Israeli settlement organizations, with the support of the Israeli authorities, are trying to expel the Palestinian residents and replace them with Jewish settlers. Sheikh Jarrah is fighting this displacement with non-violent protests and legal action. Police have been arresting protesters and using various heavy-handed methods to try and quell this ongoing joint Israeli-Arab protest movement. See the video on the home page.
